I went to a seminar this week. Here's what I could see.
The happiest people I know didn't find a job they loved.
They built a life they loved and their job around it.
It made me remember that the advice I used to follow is out dated.
"Find your passion.
Find a job you love.
Find the right company."
Everyones out there is using the word 'find'.
Like your perfect life is something you find under a rock one day and everything becomes rainbows and coconuts.
So, most people aren't having a whole lot of luck finding anything. Because it isn't found. It's made.
The people I saw this week who are the happiest, are creating.
Their happiness moved when they started creating a life path.
The hours, the people, the place, the freedom, the pace and the income.
Then they built the work that fits around that life instead of the reverse.
The order is important.
When the job comes first, your life gets leftovers.
When life comes first, the job becomes the tool.
I built my companies this way.
And the life it was designed around it is still intact.
But it wasn't super easy. It just means doing things differently.
I looked, but didn't find it and doing it this way nearly cost me my life.
So please remember it doesn't just show up. It isn't found. It's made. Created.
