How to Survive, Thrive and become A Hero during the 4th Turning

There is a lot going on in the world right now. We are no longer un-effected by world events. They happen to us all. So knowing what’s going on is an important step in helping any sort of decision making.

I’m glad you’re here. I know it’s an investment in your time. 10 minutes to be exact. Here’s a bit of what to expect from this email.

Not gonna lie. It’s going to be a bit heavy. But it needs to be. I can’t sugar coat it. 
But from darkness, comes light, which I hope you’ll find at the end. You'll find some handy suggestions and links for you to take action too.

I like to join dots and bring people to a place of awareness, so they are informed and can make better choices. It’s why me and Daniel created our groups, calls and courses. 
I know you’ll receive the information as intended, and from awareness you'll be empowered. That’s my goal here for you.  
So while this subject may feel like a weighty subject , it’s because “History doesn’t always repeat, but it often rhymes.”

It’s based on a book I read a while ago, joined some dots and now seeing it being played out, right now. It’s that important, it spurred me and Daniel into action.

Buckle up.

Ever feel like you’re sitting on the tipping point in history? 

“Sometime before the year 2025, America will pass through a great gate in history, commensurate with the American Revolution, Civil War, and twin emergencies of the Great Depression and World War II”

This quote taken from the book ‘The Fourth Turning: What The Cycles of History Tell Us..” was written in 1997 in a time of relative peace and stability. Think about how different the world was. The dawn of the internet, no smart phones, before 9/11, social media. 

The book's premise is that every 80-to-100-year period, there are four dramatic shifts in the mood of a nation, and the wider world, each lasting roughly 20 years. During each cycle, an archetypal persona emerges who unleashes the new era, the cycles are:

The High (Growth)
The First Turning is a High, emerging from Crisis. During The High, people have trust in institutions and individualism is weak. Society is confident about where it wants to go collectively. 1945-1964 was this era In the current 100 year Turning. The persona for this era is The Artist. 

The Awakening (Maturation)
The awakening sees institutions attacked in the name of personal and spiritual autonomy. Just when society is finding public progress, people suddenly tire of social discipline and want to recapture a sense of "self-awareness"and "personal authenticity". The persona for this era is The Prophet and was active throughout 1964-1983.

With me so far? Ok, so next is..

The Unraveling (Entropy)
The Third Turning is an Unraveling. Institutions are weak and distrusted, while individualism is strong and flourishing. Unravelings are when society wants to atomize and enjoy a hedonistic and materialistic time. The Nomads are the persona unleashed in this era through the mid 80s Yuppie boom to the early 2000’s.

The Crisis (Civic)
The Fourth Turning is an era of destruction, often involving war or revolution, in which institutional life is destroyed and rebuilt in response to a perceived threat to survival. People express community purpose, and begin to locate themselves as members of a larger, purposeful group. The current era began in the financial crisis of 2008, and will last for at least 20 years. 
Tellingly, the archetypal persona that unleashes the next era are The Heroes. They come of age as team-oriented optimists in a Crisis, rebuilding a new future in a new paradigm.

So how do you become A Hero during The Crisis and help usher in the next High? 

Understand what's happening right now, make Sovereign choices and prepare.

The Fourth Turning is happening right now. We are just over half way through the 20 year cycle. Right now we are seeing institutions being destroyed by their lack of integrity and trust:

Distrust in governments. Authoritarian governments, restriction and acceptance of individual freedoms, increasing surveillance, and erosion of privacy means trust is at an all time low. Riots and protests are happening across Europe and the Americas as they realise their government probably can't and won't help them.

Distrust in banking institutions. The retail banking collapse has just begun. Bankers have had government support to deregulate further since 2008. They no longer need to hold a fraction of deposits, or any reserve while lending all deposits out in investments.  90% of deposits in customers' banks are uninsured. Expect contagion to spread as we learn who has leveraged what, and to who.

Inflation is a hidden taxation and silent killer of wealth. Most countries report inflation at 10% based on a flawed basket of goods and services to reflect consumer prices. We can double the inflation rate to get an accurate picture of the effect on you and me.
In 2023 for every $10,000.00 in your account, you’ll have $2000 less purchasing power at the end of the year. If it continues in 2024, your $10000.00 will be worth $6000. Salaries never match inflation, so your ability to keep your current way of life shrinks unless you invest against inflation measured in FIAT currency.

Distrust of the Dollar. “$USD is the world's reserve currency, until it isn't.” 80% of all the $USD ever in existence has been printed out of thin air in the last 3 years. In doing so the US has accelerated the transition. Trade wars and the wilful devaluation of the USD other nations have to hold means the BRICS nations announced this week that they will trade with each other using the Chinese yuan. China even brokered peace between bitter enemies Saudi Arabia and Iran to move this forward. Politics aside - it's happening and we’re just observers.

Distrust of central banks. CBDCs have been designed to cut out the middle man and extend the FIAT standard. In the event of a financial or technological crisis there is a theory that retail banks will be allowed to fail, with customers' deposits inside them. During this bail-in the central banks (private organisations) will be able to reissue customers deposits in the form of CBDCs. Us, as depositors will be so happy to receive our savings back, we’ll accept all conditions that come with them. It's already been stated their will be a limit of $10k worth of CBDCs per user, with time limits for spending, and automatically debited tax, with the potential of preventing payments to certain depending on your individual profiling, 

Distrust of information. Censorship and purposeful division means finding the truth is harder than ever. Whatever your beliefs you don’t need to dig far beneath the surface to find censorship has in some cases state sponsored. Holding onto narratives is a preoccupation with failing institutions. I was put in ‘Facebook Jail’ and had posts banned for sharing my recovery from critical illness using alternative therapies and practitioners. This distortion of truth means we never know what echo chamber we are in, what sources have agendas, what real life experiences and opinions are being suppressed, or why.

Crisis breeds crisis. The 4th turning theory sees a financial crisis, leading to an economic crisis, leading to social unrest, leading to politicians looking for enemies abroad, leading to trade wars, leading to a geopolitical crisis, and potentially, a full-scale military crisis. It’s easy to see all these flashpoints playing out before our eyes in the last 10 years, as the west and the US continue to try to hold onto power. Every empire lasts around 200 years, we’re overdue a regime change whether we like it or not. It’s just part of the bigger cycles the 4th turning is itself a part of.

Oof. So far, so dystopian. I hope you're holding on there. Are you ready for the light? Tthe positive aspect of the Fourth Turning is that societies in the heat of Crisis are empowered to confront, overcome and solve problems that seemed vastly too large to confront at a time of peace and equanimity. There is an opportunity for the people to reset all the rules of the game. In this age of exponential technology it’s possible to form a new paradigm. 

Societal change begins with community.
Community begins with individual choice.
Individual choice begins from awareness. 
Awareness creates action.

Some of what I’ve outlined here you may know, some of it you may not. Everyone is going to be affected by it. My hope is with awareness you take some action. The Crisis needs Heroes like you to bring forth the new High, in the next 10 years.

What action do Heroes take?

I encourage you to play the ‘WHAT IF’ game. If any of the scenarios above play out, how are you affected? What does it mean for your job, business, bank account, investments?
Financial Sovereignty is important, because it is the wellspring from which all other freedom grows.

It’s difficult to be the hero a community and society needs to create a new model if we are unprepared, and alone.

So - WHAT IF? 

What if…You aren’t clear about your financial circumstances to take action?

 What if…Your bank goes bust?
It's happened before, with 1.7 Trillion in banks' unrealised losses andit will happen again. Spread your FIAT risk. If all your wealth is sat in FIAT currency in one bank account you’re at risk banking insurance may not cover it. Spread your capital in smaller amounts across multiple bank accounts. Ideally, only keep as much for 3-6 months of expenditure, with some in physical cash.

What if…Your savings inflate away with Inflation?
You owe it to your future self to maintain your purchasing power. The wealth you have is the economic energy and time you used in your job, or business to create it. It's yours. Consider holding some of your wealth in Gold. It has a 5000 year history as a store of value and in times of crisis and inflation will increase in value as investors flock for safety. What if…You don't like the look of CBDCs or the state of FIAT currency? ₿
Your could also consider Bitcoin. Famous investors now recommend having at least some.. What if…Your job, career or business is affected by AI or economic collapse?

What if…Information is censored preventing you from taking action?
Making sense of information will help you make your Sovereign Choices. Developing skills to ask different questions is paramount. Listening to opinions you don’t first agree with is critical. Know how to make your own decisions based on multiple information points. Find communities that will help distil signal from noise without bias. The right communities are also the best places for support and accountability.

So, now you know what could happen. You can decide for yourself what you think to be true. No matter what happens, there is some action you can take. I hope it's given you pause for thought,
